A Bumbling Trump Administration Has Key Decisions to Make
The world is living in uncertainty ahead of momentous decisions that are going to be made in the next months.
Decisions to Make
The latest foreign policy moves from the Trump Administration and their adjoining statements have created a deep feeling of uncertainty in the world. What is Trump going to do with respect to Iran? Will he bomb or will he talk? It is insane to think that this is even one of his choices. What is Trump going to do with respect to Ukraine? Will he negotiate or walk away?
What will Trump do about the self-inflicted, export-killing, price-hiking tariffs that he foolishly imposed on the world’s most important bilateral trade relation? Will he blink or will he double down and thus confirm the trade war with China, the world’s biggest economy (in ppp)? It boggles the mind to think of the economic consequences of choosing the latter.
Will Trump keep on supporting the genocide in Gaza which has killed 10s of thousands of children, or will he stop funneling weapons and ammunition to the Zionist regime? He promised a Las Vegas in the Levant… The callous immorality is simply astounding.
Easy Choices, Yet Not?
The momentous choices that now present themselves before a single mortal man, can impact the future of the entire world, and will, to a large extent, define the political and economic direction of the future. If the US Constitution were followed, the head of the executive branch would be spared such pressure. But this would not be the first time; starting with Lincoln the US Constitution has been constantly violated and trampled upon. This is a great tragedy for the US people and for the entire world.
To make matters worse, today there is little clue as to which way Trump will move in these issues. Will Caesar’s thumb go up or go down? Decision-makers in the collective West and the global South must now hang on every word and every ridiculous or unfathomable tweet from the US Commander-in-Chief, and try to judge his mood on a particular day.
Just the fact that Trump’s decision in each of these choices above is uncertain is in itself disturbing business around the world. Investments are being reduced or postponed. The uncertain environment created by the Trump administration has in itself created a difficult environment for the world economy in which to function serenely. What will be the tariffs between China and the US in a month? Nobody knows, which is chocking in itself. Will the Straits of Hormuz be blocked by Iran in one month as part of a possible retaliation, taking the oil price to 200 dollars per barrel? Who knows…
These are all signs of a US government in crisis, and the whole world must pay for it. They are signs that the US governement is completely incapable of handling the great power that it wields, neither morally nor intellectually. With great power should come great responsability. The most dangerous moments are still ahead, and Trump has important choices to make...
I believe Trump was angling for the Peace Prize, again using Ukraine as the proxy. He is slowly learning, like Macron learned, that Russia is willing to negotiate, with a serious party. Putin can't be bluffed. Not again.
Not even a month ago Tulsi testified before Congress that Iran wasn't trying to build a bomb.
I am pretty sure that if Iran decides it needs nukes, Pakistan or North Korea will provide the expertise.
According to FOX, we should bomb Iran, now. Apparently FOX has different intelligence sources, probably the death merchant funded, ISW.
As for tariffs. They are trade negotiating tools with every nation except China and the EU.
It is my opinion that Trump likes Zi and detests the Eurocrats. He wants at least some reshoring from China to the US and will gladly sink the EU's economy if possible.
There is always uncertainty ahead. There are always momentous decisions being made. You see some as affecting you personally so they loom large in your consciousness. Other equally dramatic upsets don't affect you personally so they don't count. The middle east...omg! Sudan, Ethiopia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Nagano Khabarakh ....who cares?
